 – About Speaker –
Nick Chan is Managing Director and Global Head of Repo and Asset Management for BMO Capital Markets under Global Fixed Income Currencies and Commodities (FICC). In this role, he has responsibility for repo trading, secured and unsecured wholesale funding activity as well as management of the liquidity portfolios for Capital Markets. He also has oversight over the Global Short Term Interest Rates (STIR) Sales team, with a focus on the distribution of all rates, credit, and money-market products in the 2 years and under duration part of the curve.

Nick is the Chairperson of the Investment Industry Association of Canada’s (IIAC) Repo Committee, and has been active in many industry initiatives including the development of the Canadian Repo Central Counterparty as well as most recently, the lobbying effort for changes to the application of the Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR) on the Canadian banks. His work on the NSFR has helped identify and evolve existing leverage ratio rules pertaining to securities finance netting which historically left Canadian banks competitively disadvantaged in the global markets. Nick was recently named a 2018 IIAC Top Under 40 nominee, is active in BMO’s diversity efforts with a specific focus on visible minorities, and represents the MOSAIC group within the BMO Capital Markets Diversity and Inclusion Council.
